Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions! Ok, not all are frequently asked yet, but we think you might wanna know. :)

Quick Links:

1) Why was Nexus formed?

We felt that in order to be successful in this extremely fast moving age, our business folks, technologists and entrepreneurs needs to be aware of the most current trends, as well as have the ability to glimpse into future ones.

For example, we are just at the beginning of the Web 2.0 revolution , which if you disregard the hype and look at the true value within, is changing our social fabric and the way we live and communicate. Companies like Salesforce.com are leading a revolution that started big changes in the way all software sellers and buyers look at software, ROI, etc.

Lastly, the world is getting very flat, and we need to learn how to recognize the opportunities behind globalization as opposed to being reactive and stagnant, which is often the reaction of developed countries when faced with the upcoming forces flattening the word.

Hence, Nexus was formed as an initial step to help the community gain the awareness of these latest technological and globalization trends as it relates to us. There are so many technological and social innovations that are happening around the web, and we chose the speakers and companies we felt was the most approriate to come and represent the future.

2) Who is behind Nexus?

We are from a group called The Digital Movement! The aim of our group is to form an informal social fabric between senior leaders, entrepreneurs, overseas experts, investors and geeks. We believe by putting in place a highly informal environment, and then promoting 2 way interactions between groups, we would go a long way in creating an innovative and enterprising culture!

3) Who is this conference for? Tertiary students, entrepreneurs, or professionals?

Nope, we do not have that distinction, but rather, this event is meant for folks excited about the business and technological trends in the web and mobile spaces. The reason why we do not make such clear distinctions is because we believe that this passion and interest is way more important than which demographic you come from. Taking the 2 ends of people who appear in out events - business leaders bring a wealth of experience and network into the community, but tertiary folks bring about a level of curiousity and savviness that is very important as well. Both are needed to create a truly productive environment, and we are excited to see what synergies occur!

4) What does your logo stand for?

The box is supposed to stand for the Pandora box, like opening up a world of possibilities. As for inside the box, what you can see is just the tip of the ice berg. Meaning, there are unlimited possibilities in business and technology, and we are so far only witnessing a very small part of it.

5) I love you guys. Need any help?

Yes, actually! You can help in many ways, including helping us spread the love about Nexus (like putting nexus2007.com on your MSN/Yahoo/GTalk nick), giving us ideas and suggestions about speakers, program, or simply coming down on March 24th for a great time!
